La Chasse-galerie

Sketches for a hexa-boat; a six-sided canoe with which we will explore and trace a water-filled landscape. A mythical pilgrimage inspired by the Quebecois legend of La Chasse-galerie in which a group of men, in their deepest desire to see their loved ones after a night of heavy drinking, strike a deal with the Devil to transport them swiftly home in a flying canoe. Desiring to reunite in love through trials over time and distance, our boat will operate as a united form, on a pilgrimage into connectivity. Our craft will have no back end, we can only look forward, however there will be a difficulty in steering in any one direction and may simply find ourselves spinning in circles. In this way we will have outwitted the idea of the voyage itself no matter where we go, we will be where we are.
